Mount Elbrus is the highest mountain in Europe at 5642 m (18,510 ft). This is slightly a non technical peak but make no mistake as the physical fitness and ability to use crampons is very important. This peak is great start for those who wish to start climbing the icy Himalayan Peaks or which to complete their 7-Summits Challenge.
Day-1 Meeting at Mineralnye Vody Airport. Our English speaking guide will receive you and accompany on a 3.5hr bus ride to Baskan Valley near the foothills of Mt.Elbrus. Transfer to hotel and overnight stay at 2300m/7546 ft
Day-2 Acclimatization hike to Mt. Cheget (3400 m). A half a day trek after which you will be taken to the equipment store for the hire of the necessary gear for the actual climb. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day-3 Ascent to mountain refuge at 3900m. Loads will be ferried by ski-lifts. After tea and snacks at refuge, acclimatization hike upto (4800m/ 15,748ft). Overnight stay at refuge.
Day-4 Hike up to the Pastuckhov rocks and probably higher (4800 m/ 15,748 ft),
Day-5 Rest day. You are free to spend time in leisure at the refuge or/and our guide will be available to give a review of all the necessary ice/snow craft techniques. Overnight at the refuge.
Day-6 Summit day. We leave the refuge about 3 a.m. for the climb of Elbrus' west summit, 5642 m (18,510 ft).
Day-7-8 Reserve Days, to accommodate any case of bad weather on the previous day. Overnight at the hut/hotel.
Day-9 Drive to Mineralnye Vody airport.
